While preparing our best Labor Day whites for what we hope will be a restful yet fun-filled weekend, we came across this photo of this summer’s Dîner en Blanc, a secret, 10,000-person dinner party held in Paris each year. Looks ridiculously amazing. And just slightly more appealing than standing around the Hamptons with Demi Moore and Vivica Fox, no? Happy Labor Day.

Alber Elbaz, the Lanvin designer who never met a floppy bowtie he didn’t like, confirmed on Friday that he’s creating a collection for H&M, arriving in some 200 locations on November 23 (via WWD). Though Elbaz is likely not the sorta guy who will ever paw through a bin of $12.99 ring-neck T-shirts at the store with slurpee in hand, the collab is certainly one of the most intriguing to come out of H&M. Be on the lookout for the collection in a web video to be released on Nov. 2. Until then, here’s Elbaz discussing the project, assuring Lanvinites that it’s “not a project about dress for less. I think that I loved the idea that H&M was going luxury, rather than Lanvin is going public.” —Krista Jennings

We make no reservations about our love for studded handbags. With the military-inspired trend in full swing for fall we are currently lusting over Hammitt Handbags. Magpies, your time is nigh. Everywhere you look these days, someone’s wearing a glittery, glistening gown or dress. Sequins, rhinestones, pailettes — celebs are trailing stardust from Park Ave. to Melrose Place.

The look is very Old Hollywood. But beware — when made shabbily, a frosted frock can end up making you look more disco ball than diva. Still, we love anything that makes us look like we ingested 100 glow sticks.

Want to own a piece of legendary country crooner June Carter-Cash’s seriously sleek, 1960s wardrobe? It must be your lucky day. 1stdibs, the website where we drool over expensive vintage furniture when bored, is selling a small lot of Mrs. Johnny Cash’s clothes including a strapless silk gown by Lillie Rubin, a luxe mink cape and a small needlepoint handbag that the site says is a “Cash family heirloom.”

There are a few pieces by the likes of Fendi and Gucci thrown in the mix, too, along with Dries Van Noten and Moschino items owned by daughter Roseanne.

Most items aren’t priced (which we take to mean that they fall slightly out of our price range). But a nude silk-chiffon cape is going for $475 while a Mondrian turtle neck sweater is $675.

We wonder if the lucky buyers will get a dose of Cash’s grace and talent, too.

There’s a new jewelry collection in town that your significant other would try to steal from you if it weren’t for all the bling (on second thought, that might not stop anyone from stealing anything). Belle Coeur is a collection of unisex pendants, cuffs, rings, and earrings that is the brainchild of Jamie Jo Harris, a songwriter who has worked with the likes of Mr. Bee Gee himself, Barry Gibb.

Now, with the help of celebrity jeweler Rosalina Lydster, who counts Jessica Alba, Fergie, and Elton John as some of her fans, Harris has launched her own line featuring all sorts of rocker chic pieces that range from $400 to $5,000.

During the line’s west coast launch party last week at Bettina Duncan at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, we had the opportunity to chat with the designer and check out her creations. Harris, who  says her inspiration comes from, “hope, love, and freedom,” considers herself a “romantic at heart.” A trait clearly evident in the designer’s first pendant.

Sparkling with diamonds, agate, and black and pink sapphires, the pendant has wings to symbolize freedom, a heart for love, hope and giving, and a key to embody a Belle Coeur or, literally, a “beautiful heart.”

The pendant retails for $3,200 and can be worn around the neck or attached by chain to a pair of jeans. A bracelet that will be unlocked by the pendant is currently in production.

A portion of the proceeds of sales from Belle Coeur will benefit the Diabetes Research Institute and Women of Tomorrow.

Fashion’s Night Out is shaping up to be such a cool-sounding affair that we really don’t know which festivities to hit first. But this one is certainly at the top of our list.

On September 10, supermodel and laid-back style icon Erin Wasson will throw down at jewelry maker Pascal Mouawad’s Melrose Ave. showroom (Mouawad is the company behind Wasson’s Low Luv line of baubles). Shoppers can get in on an exclusive new Low Luv ring that won’t be released to the rest of the public until later in the fall. And in the coolest twist of this Fashion’s Night Out extravaganza (besides the Ciroc vodka open bar), is a shopable closet modeled after Wasson’s own that will feature looks from local boutiques Scout and Cerre.

Personally we’d rather have Erin Wasson’s legs than her style, but we’ll take what we can get.
