That Kate Moss refused to bequeath her fashion prom queen crown because of one grainy, viral video in 2005 that showed her snorting a few lines at a Babyshambles recording session, you already know. But we couldn’t help notice just how omnipresent she’s since become.
As far as fashion goes, Anna Wintour clearly has the biggest altar of worship, even if, by near universal, critical consensus, Grace Coddington stole the show in The September Issue. But the spotlight is on Moss for the real September issue. Or issues, that is. The British wild child, who first made her imprint on the early-90s runways with her then-anomaly, anorexic-like looks, graces the covers of not one, not two, but four venerable publications this month – AnOther magazine, British Vogue, Russian Vogue, and W. Yes, we’re talking the September issue here, generally the thickest, most anticipated of the year. And for a model, one of the most highly coveted jobs.
Even with her famously waif physique giving way to new womanly curves and her name still top tabloid fodder (just Wednesday she made headlines for storming out of the GQ Men of the Year awards in London after host James Nesbitt made a rude joke about her), the 35-year-old’s still got it.
On AnOther, the bi-annual luxe fashion magazine published by the Dazed Group, she dons fuchsia Galliano, her gamine face crowned by a matching platinum/pink headpiece. For Russian Vogue, she plays disco dragonette with feline eyes and glittery green Balmain. British Vogue paints her as a beguiling baroness in a Burberry Prorsum trench and Beavaldes bauble.
And for W, she transforms into the ultimate Prada fall/winter 09 poster girl, dressed in the collection’s key, 1940s-inspired trench coat, her head held high like the power woman Miuccia intended.
