Octavia Spencer took home Oscar gold at last night’s Academy Awards sporting a white and silver beaded Tadashi Shoji cinch-waisted gown. Spencer’s dress caps off an incredible season of wins where the actress has donned the L.A.-based designer’s pieces for nearly every major red carpet appearance.

Spencer has said to People magazine in the past that, “I’m all about being loyal to the people who gave me free clothes for the publicity tour when there was nothing in it for them. … I love it that the other people are clamoring but when I needed something, they weren’t there.” Clearly Spencer and Shoji’s devotion to each other has resulted in one red carpet hit after another, and proves that full figured gals can look ultra-glam too.

That is all.

Headbands were an unexpected accessory on the red carpet last night. And though the hair accoutrement tends to spark fierce debate, we happen to be major fans.

Hallelujer! Our favorite color ever was everywhere at the Golden Globes last night — most noticeably in accessories. From emerald earrings to Kelly green beaded clutches, it looked as if St. Patty’s day came early in L.A. Here are a few of our favorites.

Zooey Deschanel. Her Prada dress was a little “oops, I threw up on my bodice.” But the bag is dope.

Juliana Margulies eschewed green jewelry’s typical classic, Art Deco stigma with a pair of off-the-beaten-path earrings to accent her Naeem Khan gown. We dig.

The combination of Julianne Moore’s black Chanel gown, emerald green tasselled earrings and red hair made us gasp with delight. And not just because we have red hair and wish we were Julianne Moore, too.

Debra Messing. Another red head who does green proud.

Even Johnny Depp got in on the fun, with a bitchin’ green vest. But, uh, are those puka shells?

We don’t think we’d care to be friends with Glee actress Lea Michelle if we met her on the street. But, we would happily consider robbing her of this ridiculously ridiculous emerald ring.

The Duchess of Cambridge just turned the big 3-0, and what better way to mark the occasion than with a stylish look back at some of her many memorable fashion moments.

Whether dazzling the world with a custom lace and ivory silk Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown or a simple black and white printed Zara dress recycled out of her own wardrobe, the British beauty pulls off each classic look with true grace and glamour.

This is Kristen Stewart. Yup. We had to do a double-take too when we saw the Twilight star on the cover of W Magazine’s September issue. The photo spread takes a cue from the glamour of the 60s with smokey-eyes, pale pink lips, and voluminous mod hair.

On the subject of vampires, Stewart dished to the mag that, “I fucking love me a vampire [Laughs]. I was 17 when I read Twilight, and at the time it was so perfect for me. The script was about young kids who think they can handle stuff that they just can’t. And they’re going to do it anyway. Because, why not? Just torture yourself. I relate to that. Vampires are a little dangerous—and we girls like to test ourselves.”

Mayday! Mayday! Pregnancy Awareness month starts, well, this May Day, Sunday, May 1^st with an event hosted by local mega-mommies Anna Getty, Brenda Strong, Ali Larter and fellow friend Amy Smart. And it is rumored that some of the chicest pregnant bellies in town with gather at Bergamot Station Arts Center in Santa Monica to be pampered, styled, fed and educated.

Organizers have designed a lineup jam-packed with entertainment, panel discussions with renowned pediatricians and doulas and a Pea in the Pod fashion show MC-ed by pregnancy style expert and ‘Bump It Up’ author Amy Tara Koch (read more about Koch’s ‘Bump It Up’ book party here).

Make sure to stop by Koch’s pregnancy style lounge, where she will outline fashion tips for pregnant figures. Expecting moms can expect to be treated to one-on-one styling sessions from Koch, but everyone can treat themselves to DC Cupcakes — made popular by the namesake show on TLC.

Another hot spot will be the Mommy Spa area. GreenBliss Eco Spa and Freshology will provide manicures, pedicures, facials and massages.

With all the expected excitement and stimulation, we hope no ones’ water breaks! If so, avoid saying “Mayday!” One would have better luck with Juno’s catch phrase, “Thunder cat’s a go!”

Pregnancy Awareness Month’s Fourth Annual Flagship Event is on Sunday, May 1st from 12pm – 4pm at the Writer’s Boot Camp building located in the Bergamot Station Arts Center (2525 Michigan Ave., Santa Monica). Admission is free.

Down on the tennis court, it’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s…Serena Williams…in, uh, a neon pink spandex jumpsuit. The tennis star tweeted this picture of herself earlier this at practice for the first time since suffering a pulmonary embolism in February. Williams is no stranger to interesting fashion ensembles on the court, typically sporting bright colors, cutout tops, barely-there bottoms and chunky jewelry. Despite the outfit oddity, we are thrilled to see the tennis champ healthy and back at work — even if she resembles Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s hilarious Green Man. Here’s a clip that is well worth watching:

For her March 26th nuptials to CAA agent Jim Toth, Reese Witherspoon choose to pass on the traditional white wedding dress in favor of a rose-hued gown from Monique Lhuillier. According to People Magazine, who released exclusive photos and details of Witherspoon’s big day, the gown had a Chantilly lace corset bodice, full tulle A-line skirt and was adorned with a double-face silk satin ribbon with cascading silk flowers. Adding to the overall cuteness factor, the actress’s daughter Ava served as maid-of-honor in her very own custom Lhuillier dress.

Witherspoon did not forgo white entirely, though. The bride changed into a white silk minidress, also by Lhuillier, for the reception.

Old Hollywood has lost another great with the death of movie star Jane Russell, who passed away yesterday at the age of 89. The pouty lipped actress found fame in 1943, when she appeared in the Howard Hughes film “The Outlaw” and refused to wear a — dare we say it — “slutty” bra that Hughes designed especially for her. The aviation tycoon staged a major promotional campaign promoting Russell’s ample, uh, assets and went to war with censors over provocative shots used in the film. And though Russell later appeared in classic movies including “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” with Marilyn Monroe, she never quite enjoyed the A-list status of her peers.

In the fashion department, Russell was known for floppy hats, pin up-quality swimsuits, a penchant for sequins and low-cut, sweetheart neck halter tops and dresses. And despite the bombshell visions her name evokes, it turns out that Russell was a politically conservative Christian. Imagine that.
