Butter is better, especially when it’s leather: Girl on a Motorcycle bags

Nothing is better than butter…when we’re talking about leather handbags, we mean.

Our first introduction to Girl on a Motorcycle bags came via Gather’s newest location in Los Feliz. A few of the bags were hung from the back wall, and we were immediately smitten with the black and butterscotch crossbodies with the fringe, retro gold hardware, and bohemian-biker babe vibe. We filed the mental images away in the impossibly huge “WANT” file of our brain, and didn’t think much more about them.

Until we saw them at proprietor/designer Kelly Bechtold’s booth at the Melrose Trading Post. What we saw proved that Kelly’s no one-trick-pony: Girl on a Motorcycle makes bigger bags (including a few that are less flashy, more utilitarian) and a standout clutch that’s both sophisticated and tough. But what really sealed the deal for us was picking up a few of the bags and fondling the soft, supple leather. The handmade quality is impeccable, too. You can find her wares at Gather and Telltale Hearts Vintage.
