Fig & Olive and Fendi make us want to rob a bank

This week, New York eatery Fig & Olive landed in our fair city with quite a bang — three nights of food-filled opening parties hosted by Chloe, Frederic Fekkai and Fendi, respectively.

The expansive, marble-and-wood filled space specializes in all things olive (they trade butter for olive oil in most dishes, have an olive bar and sell bottles of fine evoo, too). But at last evening’s opening event, our appetite was whetted not by Executive Chef Pascal Lorange’s Mediterranean culinary creations, but by a purple silk Fendi dress that was quite drool-worthy itself.

Amid in-restaurant olive trees and light wicker furniture, a model sported the bohemian, lantern sleeve dress — which Karl Lagerfeld designed for Fendi’s spring, 2011 collection — along with the label’s color-blocked accessories and a killer leather bag.

Seeing as how the crepe de Chine garment retails for $2,070, we’ll have better luck handling Fig & Olive’s $29 salmon aux fines herbs. Which, by the smell of things at last night’s party, is totally cool with us too.

Until, at least, we do actually end up robbing that bank — in which case we’d host a dinner party at the restaurant’s long, communal table and wear the purple dress (it would look quite fetching in a mug shot, no?).
