Yes, I’ve finally returned from a long, hearty stay-cation consisting of more food, booze and debauchery than I care to admit. And last week, while pretending that responsibility and work were dead to me, I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek of Spare Room, the new lounge at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, which officially opens tonight.
The lounge itself is genius — think low-lights, dark wood and deluxe versions of boardgames including Jenga, Yahtzee and Scrabble that are yours for the playing completely free of charge.
The SSLA crew will be checking out the space on a “regular” night and bringing you a Dress Code shortly, so you know exactly what to expect when you go.
But in the meantime, I have to share the absolute best parts of this cool new venue: The old-fashioned, two-lane bowling alley right inside the bar and the swanky two-toned bowling shoes provided by none other than local cobbler George Esquivel.
If the rented footwear is any indication, 2011 is shaping up to be a very good year for Los Angeles nightlife.

I would go bowling in shoes by George Esquivel any day! I just started interning for him and the craftsmanship of these handmade shoes is truly amazing. The pictures do no justice to the detail and quality you get when owning a pair of these shoes.
