Purple gowns of all shades abounded at last night’s Emmy awards. But I was surprised to see so many redheads (notably Christina Hendricks and Emily Blunt) in light lavender, a color I equate with My Pretty Pony and heinous bridesmaid dresses — and one I’d never think to pair with fire-y hair.
Obviously redheads look knock-out in jewel tones and black, but does this color combo work? Weigh in, critics.
As a redhead I must say that lavender has never been my favorite color to wear. I don’t think it looks BAD, per se (at least that’s what I tell myself when wearing my mom’s 70s-era, sheer lavender blouse), but there are just so many other colors that do great things for my skin tone that I’d rather wear those.
