The Rodeo Drive Committee is finally jumping into the Fashion’s Night Out fray — by erecting a giant, four-story ferris wheel in the middle of the street.
On Friday, Sept. 10 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the wheel will be primed (with complimentary rides for two when you show a receipt from one of Rodeo’s participating stores), while boutiques up and down the tony row will feature DJs, art installations, new product introductions, complimentary manicures, food tastings, gifts with purchase, etc.
“It’s becoming the Rodeo Drive Carnivale with a chic international fashion twist,” says Kathy Gohari, regional director of Valentino and event co-chair.
Some highlights to come:
THE ARMANI MAGIC CARPET: An R.S.V.P.-only event hosted by Giorgio Armani and featuring Samuel L. Jackson (??) hosting an exhibition of his favorite red carpet looks.
CIRQUE DU CHANEL: Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, has created an exclusive collection of nail polish called Les Khakis de CHANEL, and visitors will have the “chance” to receive a manicure at a dedicated nail bar featuring limited edition shades Le Vernis Nail Colours — Khaki Vert, Khaki Rose and Khaki Brun.
Wii: LACOSTE, known worldwide for its crocodile embroidered logo, invites shoppers to enter a Wii Tennis tournament in the spirit of the U.S. Open with “fun prizes and cool refreshments.”
SALVATORRE FERRAGAMO: The Italian fashion house debuts the new W bag, originally designed for Mrs. Wanda Ferragamo in the seventies by her daughter Fiamma.
TOD’S: Tod’s launches a limited edition version of the brand’s signature G-Bag.
TWO RODEO: The tony side street hosts a night of shopping and giving with live entertainment and a luxury silent auction benefitting lifesaving medical support for Daisy Love Merrick, a local girl heroically battling cancer.
BOTTEGA VENETA: Will host a special pre-launch release of Bottega Veneta’s new Brick handbag.
ROBERTO CAVALLI: Celebrates an evening of music by DJ Rick Khan – complete with “Cavalli cocktails.”
YVES SAINT LAURENT: Will bring the chic of Paris to Rodeo Drive by transforming its Beverly Hills boutique into an intimate Parisian lounge with the latest ready-to-wear and accessories.
