MAC is but one of many wildly successful beauty lines, and as we all know, one that partners with various celebrities and organizations, from UNICEF to Milk to Ms. Gaga.

Add another luminary to that list. Recently the brand teamed up with Alice + Olivia’s Stacey Bendet for a limited-edition collection that hits counters this week. The collaboration, consisting of 10 items, is decisively New York-meets-L.A. sophistication.

Why cosmetics? According to Bendet: “Clothing and cosmetics should [both] be whimsical. They should both make you smile and feel flirtatious.” In that spirit, the packaging and colors of the line emulate candy with three pigments – deep black, frosty white/pink and a sparkly turquoise. There are also three new shades of MAC’s Dazzleglass Crème lip gloss (shown) including  “I Want Candy”, in electric yellow.

Heed the advice of makeup artistry director Gregory Arlt and apply the gloss atop a matte red lipstick for a chic luster.  – Nicole Hayden
