You could spend your lunch hour debating between Subway or a too-expensive-but-worth-it tub of lentil salad at Joan’s on Third. Or you can go Shopping at the Billion Dollar Babes two day Cocktails and Couture sale, being held for a few hours today and tomorrow at their 3rd Street showroom.

In an effort to capture a more stylish, sophisticated crowd, the sample sale company is changing directions with the on-line sales for which they’re primarily known. There’s about to be a whole lot of really amazing, highly-curated vintage, a slew of old Chanel and shoes from the likes of Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin. And this live-action sale is only a preview of what’s to come on the web.

At the sale, expect to find fifty late-model vintage Louis Vuitton bags (many of which come in the patent leather vernis variety), vintage Chanel bags and baubles and Hermes watches. Vintage is priced at fair market value. But summer season pieces from the likes of Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Lela Rose, Alexander Wang and Missoni are at least 65 percent off in-store retail.

Other goodies include two hundred pairs of Tom Ford shades, each priced at $99, and fringed heels by Sergio Rossi ($289) that we were seriously debating taking home even though we’d probably get our gas shut off (who needs hot water when you have hot shoes?).

And FYI, the showroom mirror made us look skinnier than we’ve ever been in real life (day dreams don’t count). So feel free to chow down before your trip and know that it won’t actually depress you until much later that evening.
