Green apparel looking brighter

The only thing more depressing than listening to President Obama’s news conference on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill this morning was listening Picture 3to it while driving on a jam-packed 405 freeway at 10:30 a.m. If there’s an upside to this ecological disaster, perhaps it’s the guilt that comes with motoring around this fair city that will hopefully motivate us to do less of it (after 8 years of living here, I only recently started taking the bus on occasion–where have I been?)

Most annoying is BP’s now-totally-completely-ironic green logo. Paint it black, people.

But enough of my tirade. Though organic apparel isn’t going to saving the day, it’s looking a lot prettier, more so when proceeds go to a charitable cause. I like C PAS‘s new artist-collaborated collection of  T-shirts called “Greend.” Etnies CEO Pierre André Sénizergues runs the label and is selling the eight styles of 100% organic shirts (retail $50) at his website, as well as Colette and Galerie Wanted Paris.

Proceeds go to Global Green, a climate change-centered non-profit headquartered in SoCal. —Paul Dexter
