Veering slightly north of our usual SoCal coverage zone, we have for you a glimpse at real life bears. Not the grizzly type, mind you, but the bearded man variety.

Taken straight off the streets of San Francisco, a number of bears recently gathered to partake in a showing of Walter Van Beirendonck’s unique, bear-centric menswear collection. For the first time in his 25-year career, the designer will be presenting his collection in the US.

Van Beirendonck, one of the original Antwerp Six (think Ann Demeulemeester and Dries Van Noten), has organized a re-staging of his spring 2010 collection, WONDER, to coincide with the Academy of Art University’s spring graduation festivities. The event will take place at the Berkeley Art Museum on Sunday, May 9, with notable attendees including Suzy Menkes, Keanan Duffy, Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, and menswear designer Patrik Ervell.
