Tim Gunn gets showered with love in Pasadena

TimGunnTim “Make it Work” Gunn put in an appearance at the Kate Spade store last night as part of national tour to promote the brand as chief creative officer of parent company Liz Claiborne.

Only a few hours before too-old-to-be-a-punk-rocker Seth Aaron Henderson claimed the top prize on Project Runway, host Gunn was giving styling tips to a packed house at the Colorado Boulevard boutique. It’s possible that every housewife in Pasadena was there, we were all so jammed in.

Initially, all I could do was hear his mellifluous voice (you know the one: “Thank you, Mood.”) as he chatted amicably with the crowd, advising one lady to “always show her great waist” and another to “keep an open neckline.” But eventually things cleared out and I got the chance to see Gunn posing with gleeful fans for photos.

GunnoutsideGunn cited his proudest achievement in fashion as revamping the fashion design program at Parson’s — which I thought was pretty cool and down-to-earth of him. I mean, he could have said, “Being a huge star, you stupid haus fraus,” but he, admirably,  refrained.
