It’s amazing how many stellar brands incubate in L.A. that we’ve never heard of before (and here we thought we were all-knowing — wink, wink).

Case in point: Hansel from Basel, an adorable hosiery collection from local designer Hannah Byun.

Byun, who matriculated from UCLA a few years back, designs beautiful tights, hose and socks using playful design motifs such as Victorian-era boot buttons and leather blazer elbow pads (repositioned for knees).

She’s also branched out into bags — creating a slouchy black-and-white zig-zag-patterned knit tote that could pretty much take you anywhere in high style.
