Fashion on the radio: Scott “The Sartorialist” Schuman drops by KCRW

Attention fashion followers: Tune into KCRW tomorrow, February 10 at 2:30 p.m. when Scott “The Sartorialist” Schuman will appear on Elvis Mitchell’s radio show, The Treatment.

According to KCRW, Schuman and Mitchell will discuss how The Sartorialist started out as a hobby and how Schuman’s definition of stylish differs to that of fashionable. Apparently the photog also thinks that his blog’s success is due to him being a “regular guy from the Midwest,” not because he actually knows anything about fashion, which will also be talked about.

Hmm. As a “regular Midwestern girl” myself, I have to agree with that thought. Since spectacularly styled outfits can be a rarity even in Chicago, one of the most vibrant and culturally aware cities in the country, Schuman probably initially gravitated toward subjects that really popped against the drab looks he was used to seeing (the man did go to college in Bloomington, Indiana after all — as did I. And North Face fleeces, Jersey Shore hair and black Hard Tail leggings don’t make for a particularly engaging fashion photo. Or so my old Facebook albums tell me).
