“Do you have My Private Jet by OPI?” questioned Kim Kardashian while in a cheapie nail salon on her reality show a few weeks ago. The dark grey nail hue, featuring microscopic flecks of metallic glitter, was released in 2007 as part of its “brights” collection — but is suddenly supa-dupa hot.

It is a cool winter color that matches everything. But if you fancy it, get it fast; Amazon and Polyvore are sold out already (but something called Hair Care Choices has it for $8.49).

And there’s controversy online surrounding the color. Apparently, OPI has made a few subtly different versions of the hue — the original reportedly had more light flecks in it, making the overall tone seem brighter.

The current incarnation isn’t unlike the stuff goths and punk rockers have shellacked their fingertip with for eons. But then we’re always with that.
