It’s estimated that Americans have 1.5 billion pairs of unused shoes lying in their closets. Which is good news for the Haiti relief efforts.
Soles4Souls, a nonprofit organization that’s collecting new and slightly used shoes to people in need, is asking people to drop off their unloved shoes at any Crunch Fitness location (there is one outpost in L.A.) — with the goal of providing one million pairs of shoes to help Haiti survivors begin the rebuilding process.
It’s a basic need, and one the country is sorely lacking; too many people are currently walking around bare-footed on broken glass, twisted metal and raw sewage. But if you don’t want to part with any footwear, no worries. The organization also accepts cold hard cash.
