Party, Party, Party: New York Times T Magazine’s Golden Globes Party

ChloeThe New York Times Style magazine threw a cocktail party in the Penthouse of the Chateau Marmont on Friday — and things got jam-packed pretty quickly (the soiree started at 7 and management closed the party to latecomers at around 8:50 p.m.)

“It’s like shooting duck in here,” exclaimed one celebrity reporter. The star power was dense.

Stephen Dorff — in a rumpled Margiela jacket — came with Sofia Coppola and her other half, Phoenix singer Thomas Mars. Rachel Leigh Cook popped in wearing an adorable French Connection dress. Teri Hatcher, looking beyond thin, brought her own wine to the party.

Dianna Argon and Matthew Morrison, cast members from “Glee,” the four-time Globe-nominated series –  rolled up and were instantly swarmed by celebrity fans. Argon, who is super-stunning in real life, hung out with Decades’ Cameron Silver, who looked dashing in a lapel-less Balanciaga suit. “I bought this shirt from some no-name vintage store,” said Argon, fingering her chiffon-y tunic.

SophiaRachel Zoe and Roger Berman came on the early side, lighting ciggies and hanging on the terrace. Zoe, when she found out I was also reporting for New York Magazine, politely refused to be interviewed. “It’s not you, we love you, but I can’t talk to them. They are so evil,” she said (the Cut routinely skewers her.)

Elizabeth Banks (clad in a strapless black pantsuit) swept in right before the hotel stopped letting people in, and a low-buttoned Tom Ford and Julianne Moore (dressed in a red one-shouldered cocktail frock) sauntered into the room at around 8:55.

Chloe Sevigny, dressed in a Dior printed dress, and artist-filmmaker Liz Goldwyn (in gold lame vintage) showed up in the party’s final throes, and apparently Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes swung by minutes after I hung up my party shoes — and exited almost as quickly.
