There’s a sign up, so it’s no longer a rumor: Vivienne Westwood — the famously subversive British designer — is opening a boutique on Melrose Avenue, near Flores Street.
And all we can say is, yes. Though we barely have $3.50 to spare for a Pinkberry these days, browsing through that soon-to-be emporium of edgy confections will be a toe-curling pleasure.
On a more pragmatic note, it’s an incredibly ballsy move to open a retail store in this gnarly economic climate, especially if you’re a luxury brand (no one’s into paying full price these days).
Must be the rock-bottom rent that’s lured the company to our sun-drenched neck of the woods.
