Artist Kimberly Brooks paints L.A.’s style-makers

Elizabeth StewartL.A. artist Kimberly Brooks is aiming her paintbrush at the city’s style set.

The painter, web designer, mother and wife of actor Albert Brooks will debut a new show of oil paintings, dubbed The Stylist Project, at the Taylor De Cordoba Gallery on 
Feb, 27 (running through April).

The show consists of a series of portraits of stylists and fashion industry insiders who styled themselves and posed for Brooks.

Subjects include costume designer and stylist Arianne Phillips, New York Times Magazine stylist Elizabeth Stewart, Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant, journalist and store owner Rose Apodaca, and celebrity stylists Andrea Leiberman, Jeanne Yang, Rachel Zoe and Jessica Paster.

The Los Angeles exhibition marks the debut of The Stylist Project. But the show will go on, with Brooks exhibiting portraits of New York-based stylists and style makers, including Grace Coddington (Vogue), Joe Zee (Elle), Kim Hastreiter (Paper), Brana Wolf (Harper’s Bazaar), Nina Garcia (MarieClaire, Project Runway) in a New York exhibition set to launch in Spring 2011.
