English Laundry Channels the Eyes of Lennon

lennon2L.A.-based English Laundry designer Christopher Wicks has a thing for the wardrobes of dead 60s rock stars (Jimi Hendrix) or musicians whom you’re surprised didn’t OD in the mid-90s (Scott Weiland). He’s created capsule collections around both, and now has John Lennon to boot— Wicks recently inked a three-year licensing deal for a line of blazers, jackets, T-shirts and Imagine-inspired “mannery” (can I use that term if I’m not Patti Stanger? Probably not) from $30 to $170. The preview image doesn’t scream Lennon to me, but WWD reports that Yoko approved all designs.

wicksdoorWicks is one of the more eccentric (and egocentric) apparel purveyors in town, though I’d take his acerbic wit any day over the antics of some of his local competitors. He also has the best office title on the planet, as I observed during a visit last year to his downtown headquarters.
