Land’s End, the salt-of-the-earth de facto outfitter of everyone’s parents, is amping up its fashion IQ.
The catalog-based clothier recently debuted Land’s End Canvas, a new line of casual, preppy American sportswear that just might become our new go-to resource for Nantucket-inspired basics like sailor-striped tunics and poplin shirt dresses.
Featuring men’s and women’s apparel, the collection is a stripped-down — but more reasonably priced – J.Crew of sorts, offering tweaked classics including khaki overcoats, chambray button-fronts and cowl-neck sweaters (women’s tops and sweaters range in price from $29.50 for a button-front shirt to $179 for a cashmere cardigan.)
The selection is still on the narrow side at this point, but a few Canvas items have already made my wish list — including a nautical-striped turtleneck sweater (see photo) and a flirty black shift dress.
