Naeem who? you may have asked yourself the question while salivating over the gold strapless gown designed by Indian-born Naeem Khan and worn by Michelle Obama at a recent state dinner. Though party crashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi sucked all the media attention away from this talented designer, his name no longer rings a bell solely to elite fashion circles. W Editors Blog caught up with Khan for a recent interview. Among the revelations? Khan was contacted by Obama’s stylist, Ikram Goldman, for the custom-made creation (Ok, not so much of a surprise, Ikram’s had her hand in most of Obama’s wardobe); and that he made five dresses for her to pick out (Michelle apparently loved all of them, and isn’t returning the rejects, but will be wearing them later).
