I’m still on the lookout for a cool pair of combat boots that don’t look too Soundgarden and aren’t $2,000 Anne Demeulemeesters (ah, unattainable dreams).
Anyway, in my ongoing quest, I chanced upon the Vintage Boots section of the Steve Madden website and discovered that the majorly mass company is selling custom-made, one-of-a-kind vintage combat boots inlaid with various and unusual fabrics — including what looks like Southwest blanket swatches.
They’re decently priced ($195) and if you don’t see your size, you’re invited to “contact the designer” — someone named Stacey Howard. I probably won’t pull the trigger on any of the designs — a little too granola for my wardrobe — but I like the idea of a mall chain store offering something singular. J. Crew kicked all that off when it started selling vintage Rolexes (Club Monaco began selling estate jewelry soon after.) Hopefully, the vintage trend will only gain steam.

Just one question: how to add your blog into my rrs reader, thanks so much.
