“Favorite things” lists can be tired editorial cliches (how enthralled can you be by someone’s endorsement of baking soda toothpaste?). But I like menswear designer John Bartlett’s fall essentials list, posted on his new blog. Last month Liz Claiborne dropped its Claiborne by John Bartlett line when the company announced an exclusive deal to sell in JC Penneys, but Bartlett still maintains his original label, sold online and in his West Village shop. If fall ever arrives here, the quilted vests produced in Scotland and the circular-knit sleeve scarves will come in handy. On his website, a rug-chested model sports the latter—plus ça change when it comes to Bartlett, a longtime Tom of Finland devotee. — Paul Dexter

does he sell anywhere in LA?
