Fashion-forward boutique Satine feted one of the buzziest designers in town last night: George Esquivel, the sole L.A. designer up for a Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund award this year — for his lust-inducing Esquivel shoe collection.
Satine owner Jeannie Lee hosted a cocktail party in celebration of Esquivel’s nomination at her newly relocated and renovated store on Third Street. “Let’s be honest,” said Lee, who had dozens of handmade Esquivel shoes on display, “the shoes are incredible. They’re very old-school.”
Esquivel, who was busy helping David Arquette and a few other shaggy-haired dudes pick out shoes, said being nominated for the award has been “unbelievable,” adding, “I don’t ever expect anything. I’m in awe that people are buying my shoes. So I can never be upset. There’s no way.”
