The Fashion Group International of L.A. hosted a friendly little soiree last night at the Standard hotel downtown called Meet the Designers, where local designers were charged with dressing (and toting along), their real-life muses.
Project Runway grad Rami Kashou showed up with a model swathed in a spacey origami-inspired cocktail dress, while Petro Zillia designer Nony Tochterman brought her sequins-clad young daughter.
The pink-tressed designer cooed over a cheapy Forever 21 necklace I was wearing, noting, “I fucking hate them for being so good,” with a wicked grin, and showed off her smoke-less cigarette — a genius item filled with tobacco and batteries that lights up like Rudolph’s nose (only in white) when you take a “drag.”
The designer further shared that she’s co-hosting an intimate fashion presentation at her store on Oct. 20 for loyal customers with L.A. labels Smoke & Mirrors and Karen Zambos.
Other designers in the house included Lloyd Klein, who was hanging out with Flaunt mag’s Luis Barajas, a sharp-dressed Randolph Duke and — as promised — design legend James Galanos, who looked not unlike Valentino, leaning up against a bar wall and chatting with a small circle before cutting out early.
