Kevin Bronson, a fellow L.A. Times refugee, has the beat on all things cool on the LA. music scene on his indie blog, Buzz Bands.
And the vet journalist just reminded us that yesterday, one of our favorite L.A. bands, The Happy Hollows, debuted their new album, Spells.
I’ve written about the trio’s extraordinary lead singer, Sarah Negahdari, on a few occasions (she was also part of Style Section L.A.’s Influentials List when we launched.) The tiny, whirling dervish-of-a-girl is amazing on stage — yelping and cooing in equal parts over the band’s stop-and-start rock.
And though she’d never cop to it, Negahdari has amazing personal style — think colored tights, flea market dresses and avant-garde makeup. She’s also dabbled in design a bit — creating whimsical, rainbow-strewn band tees — that the band’s sold at local shows in the past.
Bronson reports that the trio is doing the November residency at Spaceland. Check out the band here, and download the album on the ‘ole iTunes.
