We’re not so big on celebrity sightings here at Style Section L.A. Yes, celebrities “are just like us,” as a popular tabloid posits. But we’re not yearning to see daily photographic evidence of this.

But I was tickled this morning to see one of my fave music artists, Sri Lankan rapper MIA, picking through oranges and green beans at the Atwater Village Farmer’s Market. (The market is a little off the beaten track and therefore isn’t very “Hollywood.”)

The new mommy was with her chubby baby, Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman (I know, eesh) — who is boasting a full head of thick, swirling black hair.

The tall, slender rapper was clad in perfect farmer’s market attire: royal purple leggings, chunky black leather motorcycle boots that hit just above the ankle and an oversized white graphic t-shirt. Her hair was long and loose.

Not that I was staring or anything. I just happened to be sorting through a bushel of tomatoes nearby…
