Obsessed: Prabal Gurung’s Sophisticated Spring Collection

Gurungspring2010It’s very rare that a single dress gives us chills, palpitations, sweaty palms and butterflies all at once. It’s even less likely that the entire collection causes us to, quite simply, lose our shit.

Enter Prabal Gurung, the New York-based genius who spent five years designing for Bill Blass before launching his namesake line for fall 2009.

Gurung’s sophomore spring showing included sophisticated, shapely cocktail dresses and strong, well cut suit jackets. Oversized bows, sheen and single shoulder straps were strategically strewn throughout, lending moxy in all the right places.

The collection is a modern take on the classically-infused, 1980s style that made us love clothes in the first place. In other words, Gurung’s pieces feel like actual fashion (yet another rarity in our world of overpriced T-shirts and hooker heels).

We’re speechless.

And to those who know us, that is the rarest thing of all.
