Perusing the calendar for LA Fashion Week (or practically fashion month, given that happenings are tentatively scheduled from October 6 through Halloween), there were several listed events for brands we’ve never heard of, but at least one gave us momentary vertebral chills: Michel Berandi. Last year, his exquisite midnight show at BOXeight for the spring 09 men’s collection was pure goth splendor, with its intricate black leather bomber jackets and scarves tasseled with long gray manes. Very Rick Owens, if a scooch more schizophrenic. (Adam Lambert wore one of Berandi’s shirts for his coming out party cover of Rolling Stone a few months back; not a bad press hit.)
The fashion week schedule, courtesy of Jen Uner and her recently updated site, lists Berandi’s October 13, invite-only event as a meet-and-greet–we’re hoping that entails at least some type of presentation with a thrash metal/operatic chorus soundtrack.
